I started getting interested in Maya Lopez after all that Blue Ear nonsense came about earlier this year, and several of the articles mentioned that there was already a deaf superhero who went by Echo. Naturally, I had to check her out since growing up, I’d always wanted to see more people like me in media.
Maya is primarily a secondary character - she never had her own line of comics. I found this disappointing. She first appeared in the second volume of Daredevil, Issue 09, 1999. She was created by David Mack. She was brought back by Brian Michael Bendis as a part of the New Avengers team, and originated the guise of Ronin which was then passed to Clint Barton (Hawkeye). She later made an appearance in Moon Knight.
I ended up really liking her, especially in New Avengers even if she doesn’t figure as prominently as she should. She is a badass in her own right.
So I compiled her various appearances and arcs into this post. They are arranged in chronological order - as best as I could, as some of the storylines overlap with the major Marvel events. Everything is uploaded on sendspace. It’s mainly cbr files, and if you want to put them on your nook you can convert them using calibre. This wiki has a list of all of her appearances so if you want to look for the random issues (which I didn’t put in this post), you can check here.
Daredevil 9-15: Parts of A Hole
Daredevil 51-55: Vision Quest (I honestly did not really like this arc, although I liked some of Mack’s artwork. It essentially is just her going on a vision quest to figure out her shit, and she meets Wolverine).
The New Avengers, Vol. 1: 1-10 (Maya is actually not in these; I just included it if you wanted to start the series from the beginning. She doesn’t appear until issue 11).
The New Avengers, Vol. 1: 11-13 (First appearance in New Avengers & intro of Ronin. The art is done by David Finch and is fantastic.)
The New Avengers, Vol. 1: 27-39 (Maya’s major appearance in this is a post-Civil War, pre-Secret Invasion arc. It’s pretty awesome, and the team itself is a cool combination of Spidey, Spider-woman, Luke Cage, Doctor Strange, Wolverine, Echo, and Hawkeye. I really have been loving this story line as well. WHO DO YOU TRUST?!).
The New Avengers, Vol. 1, 48 (I probably should have thrown this in with the other zip but oh well).
The New Avengers Annual #2
Secret Invasion 1-8 (She appears in all but 2 issues; I thought I might as well include the whole thing).
Avengers/Invaders 1-12 (She’s only in 6 issues, and not even a big part, but I included it anyway).
Moon Knight, Vol. 4: 2-12 (I haven’t gotten to this yet. But this seems to be her last appearance in the Marvelverse, for the time being).
I should note that some of the pages in the Daredevil issues repeat. I don’t have the expertise to figure out how to remove them. It really just happens when there’s a big two-page scene - the repeat is a zoomed in on that page so you can see everything better.

here we go!
